Crime Prevention Unit Mission Statement
To enhance the quality of life in the City of North Miami Beach by working cooperatively with the public to prevent crime, enforce the law, preserve the peace, and provide a safer environment.
Crime Prevention: "The anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of action to remove or reduce it."
The Mission of the North Miami Beach Police Departments Crime Prevention Unit is to improve the quality of life in our community by reducing fear, preventing crime and enforcing the law while protecting each individual's freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
Responsibility
The Crime Prevention Unit has the primary responsibility for developing and maintaining programs designed to reduce crime through the education and heightened awareness of our citizens. Law enforcement agencies cannot control crime without community support and involvement. We strive to encourage each citizen of our city to get involved and welcome your request for any program or service offered by the Crime Prevention Unit.
Community
The Crime Prevention Unit works to develop and promote positive community relations and interaction through proactive policing techniques. Our officers canvas neighborhoods to identify problems and seek solutions, attend community meetings, act as a liaison for community agencies and conduct special events to foster and increase community relations.
The North Miami Beach Police Departments Crime Prevention Unit consists of highly trained officers and volunteers who are professionally trained and/or certified in a variety of related areas.
