The Commission on the Status of Women was established under the provisions of Ordinance No. 79-20, 2002-24 on September 4, 1979 to advise on matters pertaining to the status of women.
The Commission on the Status of Women serves in an advisory capacity to the City Commission, the City administration, and the community with respect to matters pertaining to the status of women, including, but not limited to discrimination against women, employment of women, education of women, and the establishment of day care centers in the community.
The Commission on the Status of Women is comprised of 14 members, each serving two-year terms.
