The City of North Miami Beach and the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management continue monitoring the Potential Tropical Cyclone One in South Florida.
Here's an update on weather conditions:
- Heavy rainfall and major flooding threat will continue for SE Florida through this afternoon as Potential Tropical Cyclone One moves across the Florida peninsula today.
- Flooding threat will gradually diminish from west to east today.
- Gusts/squalls of 40-55 mph with heavy rain bands, diminishing SW Florida after 10 AM but continuing interior and SE Florida into the afternoon.
- One or two brief periods of sustained wind to 40 mph not out of the question with the remaining heavy rain bands moving across the area.
Our North Miami Beach Police Department has identified the following flood zones and advises residents to avoid these areas:
Excessive Flooding Hanford Blvd – 164 Street
NE 18 Ave and Miami Gardens Drive
Road Closed – Shut Down NE 23 Ave and 170 Street due to Excessive Flooding
Sandbags are being distributed today at the Highland Village Community Center located at 13621 Highland Dr., North Miami Beach, FL 33162 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The safety of our residents is our main priority. Please read the safety tips below regarding flood zones:
- Do not walk in flooded areas.
- Do not drive through flooded roads.
- Do not attempt to remove your vehicle from flooded areas. It is a hazardous condition, as there could be life threatening elements under the water such as live electric wires, cracks, etc.
