NMB Water, the regional utility owned and operated by the City of North Miami Beach, has launched the “We Care to Share” payment assistance program. Residents in need may apply to receive help in paying their water bills thanks to the voluntary contributions of other NMB Water customers and businesses who care to share. In addition, proceeds from fundraising activities will boost these funds.
“NMB Water believes clean water is a basic need and should never be a burden,” said Mayor Anthony DeFillipo. “When you think of all of the communities served by NMB Water, we hope this small gesture and neighborly good will help alleviate some of the everyday stresses many families face.”
The program is intended to help NMB Water customers who are experiencing financial hardship. Eligible customers with household income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level may receive up to $300 once per year toward their bill, upon availability of funds. Funding has been set aside for the program and will be complemented by other donations.
Customers who want to help fund the “We Care to Share” program will be able to donate by rounding up their bill to the next dollar amount or make a one-time or monthly donation, which can be done as well by businesses.
“With the support of our own generous customers, we will be able to help many residents in need and hopefully for the indefinite future,” said Mayor DeFillipo.
