During the early days of South Florida, the Town of Fulford by the Sea, as it was known prior to incorporation in 1926, was under the watchful eye of a Town Marshal. The first Marshal was Ed Boyer, followed by Ralph Langworthy. Many of the early police chiefs that followed served their country in the armed forces prior to entering law enforcement. From the battlefields of all major wars, our early chiefs served in many capacities, from planning the Normandy invasion to serving in the CIA. The NMBPD has been a grooming ground for many who have risen up the ranks to go on to becoming police chiefs for other agencies. A true testament to the quality of the men and women who cross through our doors!
