Captain Mohammad Asim started his law enforcement career with the North Miami Beach Police Department in January of 1997. In addition to being a road patrol officer, Captain Asim spent 2 years as a Community Policing Officer. Captain Asim then went back to being a road patrol officer, where he also served as one of the agency’s Field Training Officers.

In 2006, Captain Asim was elected by the members of the Police Department to serve on the North Miami Beach Police & Fire Pension board. Captain Asim still serves on the pension board and is currently the Chairman of the board. Also in 2006, Captain Asim was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he served as the road patrol supervisor for multiple years on day shift, afternoon shift and the midnight shifts. He served as the supervisor of the Communications section and was also the agency’s Administrative Sergeant. He also was the supervisor of the following specialty units: Field Training Officers, Communications Training Officers, Awards Program, Crisis Negotiation Team, Reserve Police Officer Program, Red Light Camera Program and the police radios.

In April of 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Asim is currently assigned to the Administrative Services of the Police Department. As someone who grew up in neighboring North Miami and spending a lot of time in the City of North Miami Beach during his youth, Captain Asim is proud to serve the Citizens of North Miami Beach. Captain Asim takes pride in his work and is committed to delivering professional law enforcement service, at the direction of Chief Bill Hernandez.
