Sergeant Silberman has been with the North Miami Beach Police Department since 1991. During his career, Sergeant Silberman has worked in and supervised Road Patrol, Special Investigations, Community Policing, Personnel & Training, and various administrative functions. He is a former police instructor, Field Training Officer, and has taught extensively on the subject of Aggressive Driving to agencies around the country including the U.S. Army.
 
Sergeant Silberman has been the Internal Affairs Supervisor since 2003, and also supervises the following units: Personnel & Training, Recruitment, Asset Forfeitures, Police Chaplaincy Program, Social Media, as well as special projects. Sergeant Silberman is a member of the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force, and investigates domestic security matters for the City. He is also a member of the agency's Emergency Management Team. Sergeant Silberman reports directly to Police Chief Bill Hernandez, and is a member of the agency's Command Staff. 
 
On August 24th, 2017, Sgt. Silberman became President of the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association, where he has served on the Executive Board and has been a longstanding member of the association.
